I have been told by an orthopedic neurosurgeon ….?
I have been told by an orthopedic neurosurgeon that from all the MRI ’s, xrays, and CT that I have a failed C4-5 fusion and that my neck is unstable in other regions also. I have had a multilevel anterior fusion about 2 yrs ago, and a laminectomy 26 yrs ago. The only type of surgery he recommends at this time is a complete stabilization of the entire cervical spine, both anterior and posterior. Was told this is very risky surgery. My pain level is very high most of the time. Have dificulty sleeping, weak painful arms, hands do go numb at times, neck and shoulder pain is severe. Is there any other way to stabilize the cervical spine? By wearing my philly collar, will that weaken my muscles in the neck? What can happen if I do not have the surgery?
I have a cervical spine injury also. Do you know what an Alpine brace is? I like them a lot more. Your question is really for an ortho doc.
