What is a polite way to ask my neighbor to fix his garage door?
My neighbor across the street has had a blue tarp covering his garage door for over 3 years now. I am getting sick of looking at it, and I’m sure my other neighbors are as well. The neighbor is a recluse type, rarely ever coming out of the house. However, I live in a nice neighborhood and a blue tarp for a garage door is pretty odd! What do you think is the best way to get my point across without being a jerk?
Well, if you live in a nice neighborhood, you probably have a neighborhood association? You can report it anonymously and they will handle the situation. A lot of neighborhoods have community rules, and if yours does it would be my guess that he is breaking one by having that up so I’m sure they would check in on it.
Or, if you want to handle it yourself, just go over and say something like
“hey I noticed your garage door is missing..Ive been hearing things about robberies in the area, Ive got some free time this week, how about I help you fix it? Id hate for someone to come steal your stuff” you know..just make something up, it doesn’t have to be true..just anything that doesn’t come across as offensive (because its never a good idea to offend a tacky neighbor if you want the problem fixed)
