A list of pros on water births?
My husband is nervous about doing a water birth. I, on the other hand am all for it. With my first birth, even though I didn't finish the birth in the tub, It helped me a ton for the discomfort! I started out in water with my first child (his step daughter) and ended up going to a bed because the water birth bath we had gotten for my home wasn't great quality and it was hard for me to...get a good grip to push I guess you could say. Anyway, the birthing center I will be delivering our child at has a great water birthing bath, and this being my second, it should be easier to push (should! haha) so possibly a list of pros for water births would maybe help to ease my husbands mind a little. We wanted to discuss this before our next appointment, naturally I will get my midwife to explain the benefits as well.
im in the same boat. i want one and my husband had to go personally talk to the dr about it. they provide the same relief as an epidural, they relax you more, less pushing required, it speeds up labor as your relaxed and it speeds up the process, it lessens the stress on the baby, being surrounded by fluids 9 months being born in water is less stressing on them and it is great for the baby. definatly have the midwife explain to him. i had my dr go over it with us to reassure him its safe. also visit waterbirth.org.
