Juice in diabetic diet?
I'm type 1 and use a pump, so I'm really good at carb counting. I'm tryinp (key word, trying) to quit drinking pop. As a result I'm drinking more juice. I make sure to buy 100%, no sugar added juice.
My problem is, the sugar in juice is so simple that I burn through it before the insulin can touch it. Of course, if I don't take any I get really high. I've tried playing w/ different insulin doses. I'm always high or low.
Please don't suggest plain water, I hate that! And I can only drink so much Crystal Lite!
As far as your glucose is concerned, juice is no different from or better than soda. Carbs are carbs. Try the "Light" juice blends that Welch's and Tropicana offer. They usually have half the carbs. Some other non-carb options are Propel, Minute Made Light Lemonade, Fuze (blueberry raspberry is yummy!).
