Help...need the name of a part for a 1991 infiniti Q45!!!!!!?
I was driving the other day when all of a sudden i noticed i had very little control over the steering of the car. The ground was slightly damp but it felt as though I was driving over a complete sheet of ice. I had to drive 20mph the entire way until i got home. Well I looked at my rear passenger side tire and noticed that it was crooked as if it where not screwed on properly so I checked all the bolts and they were solid. I then looked under the rear at the the backside of the tire and saw that there was a metal bar maybe a little over a foot and a half in length that is a brace/stabilizer of some sort that is completely severed! I have no clue as to the name of this part and it is obviously integral in the operation of the vehicle b/c without it the tire is completely unstable. Sorry for the long story but does anyone know what this metal bar is called? Thanks for your help.
The Q45 has a multi link rear suspension, and it sounds like one of the links is broken. There are upper and lower links on each side (left side and right side). There is also a piece called a "suspension member stay". Looks similar to what you are talking about.
Anyway, one of those things have come loose somehow. Shop for an Infiniti repair shop or a place that knows those cars. Your basic mechanic shop may not have the expertise to fix it properly.
