Information on the yellow fever vaccine

WHAT IS IT?
The yellow fever vaccine used to prevent infection by the virus of yellow fever.
It is recommended that yellow fever immunization for all persons within 9 months of age and older traveling or living in parts of Africa, South America and other countries where yellow fever infection. Furthermore, people are traveling to countries that require yellow fever vaccination (vaccination certificate) should be immunized. You also need immunization against yellow fever for others who may come into contact with the yellow fever virus.
Children 6 to 9 months of age and pregnant women should be immunized only if they have to travel to areas where there is an epidemic of yellow fever and can not be protected against biting mosquitos.

Side effects which must be reported immediately to your doctor
Rare - Confusion, convulsions, cough, palpitations, burning, tingling or pins and needles skin, headache (severe), nervousness or irritability, redness of skin rash or itching, sneezing, stiff neck, vibrations in the ears, difficulty breathing or swallowing, unusual tiredness or weakness, vomiting
Side effects that usually do not require medical attention
These side effects usually disappear as your body adjusts to the vaccine, however, if they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor, nurse or pharmacist.
Less common - Fever (mild), headache (mild), muscle pain, injection site
Other side effects not listed above may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your doctor, nurse or pharmacist.
